Supporting families and separation workers on both sides of the VIC/SA border On 12–13 May, the Barwon South West Family Law Pathways Network (auspiced by Community Connections) held a ‘Bridging the Border’ conference in conjunction with the South Australian Family Pathways Network. Day one was managed by the SA network and was held in Mt Gambier, while day two was held in Portland and organised by our network.
The conference welcomed a wide range of service providers from areas in the Greater Green Triangle region, providing them with an opportunity to discuss state differences, look at what works and what doesn’t work, learn about what the different services offer, and most importantly to develop professional relationships between practitioners and services that can improve the outcomes for our clients. A total of 80 people attended over the two days; positive feedback was received from attendees and plans are in place to make this an annual networking event. The event was well attended by Community Connections staff, and thanks go to the staff who featured in targeted discussion groups and presented about their services, especially Lyn Clancy, Graeme Sharkey, Hannah Chisholm, Marcelle Curtis, Chris Gray and Michael Tate. A special thank you goes to Belinda Crichton for her great organising skills, and also to the project worker Teresa Herring for her excellent coordination of the event. |
