Integrated Family Violence

Working together against family violence

The Barwon South West Integrated Family Violence reforms (BSWIFV) started in 2006 to improve and develop services for people within the region who are experiencing family violence. The BSWIFV regional coordination is based at Community Connections and is funded by the Victorian government.

The main strategy for encouraging best practices is to provide a range of regular communication and information sharing opportunities amongst family violence providers and broader stakeholders. Best practice forums and dissemination of relevant collaboratively-researched information are examples of some of our activities.

There are nine priorities for the reforms, including developing clear referral pathways and creating strategies for continuous improvement. A main priority is children and young people, which we addressed with the creation of the Regional Schools Family Violence Project. All plans are linked to the Regional Indigenous Family Violence Action Plan.
