Early Childhood Education
Overview of Services

How does Community Connections assist early learning?

Community Connections was founded on protecting children and helping them to reach their potential. While we consider it never to late in a person's life to help them to get back on track and make the most of their talents and opportunities, our preferred strategy is to provide early assistance to children so that they avoid the obstancles that unsupported children often face.

Our Early Childhood Services are expertly and creatively designed to encourage reading confidence in young children, and reading-support confidence in their parents or carers. Our main services include:

Reading Discovery

Rainbow Rhyming

Into the Dreamtime

Discovery Press for children

Reading Discovery

Storytime at home

Reading Discovery is a home-based early intervention program focusing on language and emergent literacy for preschool children. Trained Reading Discovery practitioners model oral language, creative play and emergent literacy practices to parents and caregivers. Children's progress towards the Reading Discovery goals and outcomes is monitored and shared continuously with parents, caregivers, Family Support Services case managers, speech therapists and early childhood professionals working with families.

Into the Dreamtime

Playtime in the imagination of Aboriginal Dreamtime

The program is flexible and draws on stories including traditional Australian Aboriginal legends.  It is the philosophy of Reading Discovery that all children and adults living in Australia, regardless of their cultural origins, will be enriched by having an aquaintance with Indigenous Australian stories.  Dreaming stories vary throughout Australia and there are different versions of the same theme.  Reading Discovery selects resources from as many Aboriginal nations as possible and encourages the use of local stories where possible.
