Community Connections Information

Introduction

Community Connections (Vic) Ltd is an independent, non-profit, child-safe organisation that provides a range of human and social justice services to families, children and individuals who are residents of the Barwon South West region of Victoria. It emerged from an amalgamation of five small organisations in South West Victoria, and in 2011-12 celebrates 20 years of growth and local support.

With assistance from over 300 volunteers, the organisation operates over 40 different programs providing a diverse range of services across this large region. Funding for these programs is mainly provided by State and Federal governments, but we also rely on the goodwill and support from philanthropic trusts, corporate partners, as well as community support and donations. For information on how you can help, either financially or by volunteering, visit our Supporting Us page.

Vision

We wish to see the emergence of a society able to protect and strengthen the social, cultural, environmental and economic wellbeing of all citizens. Through inspired and creative action, we aim to represent and advocate for vulnerable groups and those most in need as a measure of our pursuit of a fair and enlightened community.

Mission

Community Connections has constructed a four pillar approach to guide it towards creating regional sustainability.

Pillars for Regional Sustainability

Social Equity - To develop resilient and fair rural communities by ensuring all citizens and families are effectively and appropriately supported in accessing relevant services and resources

Cultural Diversity - To assist in the creation and support of conditions that enable new and existing rural communities to experience and enjoy increased diversity of values, beliefs, aspirations and social engagement

Environmental Responsibility - To encourage the rural community to manage a 'minimal' and 'balanced' load on our environment while recognising the region and its collection of townships, settlements, commercial and agricultural businesses is highly complex and diverse

Economic Viability - To promote positive regional economic development that supports our social, cultural and environmental goals

Governance

Community Connections is a Company Limited by Guarantee registered with the Australian Securites Commission. It has Deductible Gift recipient status.

It is governed by a Board of Directors.
